Substitute almond milk and heavy cream with equal amounts of coconut milk and coconut cream for a tropical twist.
Replace berries with strawberries or any other low-carb preferred fruit.
Add 15 ml of MCT oil for added healthy fats.
For increased protein, blend in one scoop (approximately 20-30 g) of unflavoured whey protein powder.
Method
Base liquid: Pour 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk into a blender.
Berry addition: Add 75 g of frozen mixed berries. For lower carbohydrate content, use mostly raspberries and blackberries.
Ice addition: Add a handful of ice cubes to the blender.
Cream addition: Pour in 3 tablespoons of heavy cream.
Sweetening: Add 8-12 drops of liquid sweetener, adjusting to taste.
Flavoring: Add 5 ml of vanilla extract.
Blending: Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Serving: Pour into a glass and serve immediately while cold for optimal texture and flavour.
Refrigerating: Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 day, but stir or re-blend before serving as ingredients may separate.
Freezing: Not suitable for freezing as the texture will become icy and the dairy components may separate when thawed.
